St. Lucia, one of the Windward Islands of the West Indies'
Lesser Antilles is situated between Martinique and St.
Vincent, and to the north-west of Barbados.
The Atlantic Ocean rims St. Lucia's eastern shore, while the Caribbean Sea lines
the west coast which offers the calmest surf and the finest beaches.
St. Lucia's capital city, Castries, is in the north-west, of the island.
St Lucia is 238 square miles and is shaped like mango - about 27 miles long and 14 miles wide. The island is blessed with fertile volcanic soil and grows a vast supply of fruits and vegetables. St Lucia is one of the leading banana exporters in the Caribbean.
